Background
The playground at Colonel Walker School was scheduled to be removed from the school grounds this past
summer. In order to plan for a new play area to occupy the space, a Playground Committee has developed
a plan in conjunction with a landscape architect and is working to secure funding through donations and
grants.
The Playground Committee solicited input from Colonel Walker School and Piitoayis Family School students as well as staff, parents and Inglewood community members to ensure the new CWS Play Park will meet everyone's needs and be a reflection of our unique community and school. The new playground will integrate traditional equipment play with more creative adventure play, to keep kids climbing, swinging, sliding and imagining their way to fun:

From The Principal
"Play is a vital part of childhood that helps children to not only develop physical strength, coordination and
balance but is critical to developing important life-long social skills... We have an opportunity to create a
playground that includes areas for active, free, quiet, social, creative, exploratory and natural play."
Michelle Speight,
Principal Colonel Walker School.
